The esteemed architect Carlos Lamela, CEO of Estudio Lamela, will deliver the second lecture of the ‘Ágora: Inspiring talks 2024’ series, a project promoted by APE Grupo, in collaboration with the Territorial College of Architects of Castellón (CTAC). Lamela is the author, among other emblematic works, of the T-4 of Madrid-Barajas Airport (with British architect Richard Rogers) and the expansion of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium (1988-1994 and 2002-2005).

The lecture will take place on Thursday, May 9th, at 7:00 p.m., at the headquarters of APE Grupo (C/Luxemburgo, 46) in Castellón. Link to registrations.

The Madrid-based architect will deliver the keynote speech “Estudio Lamela: Recent Projects,” in which he will conduct a thorough review of his latest works. ‘Ágora: Inspiring talks’ has become an unmissable event among architecture and interior design professionals, with figures such as Rafael de La-Hoz, Benedetta Tagliabue (EMBT Architects), Emilio Tuñón (National Architecture Award 2023), and Iñaki Ábalos (Ábalos+Sentkiewicz Studio) having participated in the forum.

Carlos Lamela currently serves as the executive president of Estudio Lamela, a robust architecture firm located in Madrid and founded 70 years ago by his father. With offices in Poland, Mexico, and the Netherlands, it has undertaken significant projects both in Spain and internationally.

Some of the most iconic buildings that define his work and trajectory include the aforementioned: the T-4 of Madrid-Barajas Airport and the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Recently completed projects include the Canalejas Madrid Center, housing Spain’s first Four Seasons hotel, and the Airbus campus in Madrid, with ongoing developments at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam and Tijuana Airport in Mexico. In the residential realm, several housing projects in Madrid are underway, employing industrialized construction systems.

Estudio Lamela has constructed over 2,000 projects in 32 countries across various typologies: airports, stadiums, offices, residential buildings, etc. Its work has garnered over thirty national and international awards in recent years, and its projects have been featured in specialized media.

Notable office buildings include the Astro Tower in Brussels, Europe’s tallest ‘green’ building. Also, the Discovery Building, an office building for Colonial in Madrid, which holds LEED Platinum certification. Nestlé’s headquarters in Warsaw, Caja Badajoz headquarters, a Banco Santander contact center in Querétaro, Mexico, spanning 94,000 square meters; and John Deere’s headquarters in Madrid.

Recent completed office buildings include the Méndez Álvaro Tower, the Trieste building, and the offices on Amador de los Ríos street, all in Madrid. Among the projects currently under construction, “Madnum” for Colonial stands out, one of the most significant office developments in Madrid in the last decade. Also under construction are the Four Seasons Hotel Formentor and the Mandarin Punta Negra in Mallorca, and Málaga Towers.
